GENERAL

The Blastronix RS422/485 8 port card is one of the highest performance 8 port cards on the market today.  It supports speeds of up to 460K bps on all ports simultaneously.  All 8 port units come with 16C554 UART's which feature 16 byte transmit and receive buffers (FIFO's) to help guard against loss of data in your busy system.  16C654 UART's are available which offer 64 byte FIFO's and automatic hardware and software flow control as well as communication speeds up to 460K baud.  All cards may be addressed as COM1 - COM8 or any I/O address you choose up to 3FF Hex.  The 8 port unit features a DB78 connector.  An 8 serial port splitter cable is provided at no additional cost.  This means you may expand your computer by an additional 8 serial ports and only use one card slot in your computer.  Each cable section is 3 feet in length and has DB9 male connectors on the other end with the pinout shown below.  Our NT setup disk makes configuring your NT system for interrupt sharing a breeze.   The unit is pinned out to plug in directly to most VTR's and high end decks.

Interrupts

Our interrupt sharing allows multiple ports on a single card to all use the same interrupt.   Any of eleven interrupt choices are available for each port as well.  You may choose individual interrupts for ports which require high priority service and allow the rest to all share interrupts or all eight ports can share the same interrupt.  The interrupt status register may be located at any address and when used with interrupt sharing it will supply you with a pointer to indicate which port has an interrupt pending.  This feature allows you to find out which of up to 8 ports has a pending interrupt with only a single read operation.  This vectoring method is ideal in speed critical environments.

Addressing

Each port's address may be defined individually,  you never have to worry about address conflicts as you do with cards which use 32 and 64 byte blocks for addressing.  These cards are compatible with OS/2, Windows 3.X, Windows 95/98, Windows NT, UNIX, REAL32, and XENIX.
